This Week’s Message – “How to Have Unity

by Pastor Dan Stockum

Division in the church is nothing new. It goes all the way back to the earliest gatherings of Christians, but that doesn’t mean that division is inevitable. This week we will see how Paul addresses the problem with the church in Corinth, and his prescription for creating unity when we disagree.

Scripture Focus: 1 Corinthians 1:4-13, 3:5-15,18-23

October is Pastor Appreciation Month

October is Pastor Appreciation Month, and Pastor Appreciation Sunday will be on October 13. A pastoral job is one of the toughest leadership roles, and our pastors were called to be at Bridges to teach, guide, and bless us and our community. Please take time this month to consider a meaningful way to show any of our wonderful ministry leaders why you appreciate them all year round.

Let the Evidence Speak — October 11

Let the Evidence Speak will meet online via Zoom at 7:00pm on Fri,, Oct 11. Reasons to Believe Apologist Dr. Belinda Calabia will give a presentation on the pro-life argument entitled “The Case for Life: Truth, Human Value, and You,” supporting the conclusion that abortion is morally wrong. She aims for each participant to gain meaningful insights and feel empowered to engage in respectful and gracious conversations on this topic with those in their circle of influence. Join us on Zoom HERE. Click HERE to visit the Facebook page, or call Kirby Hansen for more info: (650) 917-9107.

Deaconesses and Deacons in Need of Volunteers

Bridges’ Deaconess and Deacon Boards are recruiting volunteers to join in the important mission of hearing the word and doing what it says (James 1:22) along with the combined need for faith and action (James 2:16). Our Deaconesses continually support the Bridges family in ways both seen and behind the scenes, and we hope to grow the Deacon Board to similarly serve and also partner with the Deaconesses on joint projects. Have you been looking for ways to serve with other dedicated people? Whether you’d like to send an encouraging note, visit someone in the hospital, give a ride, or something else that excites you, only sign up when you are available and in areas where you want to contribute. For details, contact Board Chairs Sujana Panthulu (sujana.panthulu@gmail.com) or Tom Hansen (twhansen@yahoo.com).
